PRODUCT AND FITMENT
Below are some common questions about our products.
HOW MUCH WILL THE RENNSTAND SUPPORT?
We have rated the RennStand for 3 tons US or 2,722 kg. If your vehicle weighs 5000 lbs. the most you would support with one jack or jack stand is half of that since the vehicle is also supported by its tires or other jack stands that share the weight. A 5000 lb. vehicle might put as much as 2500 lbs. on a jack stand and that is only 42% of the stands rating. The more stands, the lower the loading on each stand because they are sharing the load. In addition, the stands are all tested in accordance with ASME standards to at least 150% of the rated load (9,000 lbs.) but please do not exceed the 6,000 lb. load rating for safety reasons.
HOW LOW WILL IT GO?
The RennStand adds approximately 1.9 inches or 50 mm to the lowest setting of your jack including the jack pad. The lowest setting while on its legs is 11.5 inches or 292 mm.
HOW HIGH WILL IT GO?
The RennStand will go to roughly 16.5 inches or 419 mm. We have plans to produce other versions that will go higher for lifted vehicles.
WHAT TYPE OF JACK IS REQUIRED TO USE THE RENNSTAND?
The RennStand requires a wheeled floor jack. The jack cannot be wider than the space between the legs. The RennStand will accept floor jacks that are up to 12 inches (305mm) wide. In addition, the floor jack should have a flat lift saddle with a center recess that is at least 3 inches (76mm) in diameter.
WHAT VEHICLES DO THE RENNSTAND FIT?
The RennStand fits most vehicles. There are so many different vehicles and changes from year-to-year, but typically one of our jack pads will be suitable. We also add jack pads to our product line as we are able to.
HOW MUCH ROOM IS REQUIRED TO PLACE THE STAND?
You will need at least 5.5 inches or 140 mm of clearance from the center of the jack point to any obstruction in order to safely place the RennStand. You will need 2.1” plus the height of your jack to place the RennStand under your vehicle.
WILL THE RENNSTAND FIT UNDER LOWER PROFILE VEHICLES?
While the RennStand fits under most vehicles, a lower profile jack may be required for low or lowered vehicles. If there is still not enough clearance to get the jack, with RennStand’s crossbar on its saddle, under your car’s jacking point, there is a quick remedy: First, using only the jack, lift the car at the jacking point where you want to place the RennStand. Once lifted, place a 2x4 piece of wood laid flat and centered under the tire closest to that jacking point, and lower the vehicle so that the tire is centered onto the 2x4. This process generally takes only about a minute or two, and in most cases gives you the clearance necessary to get the jack with the RennStand’s crossbar under the jacking point.
WILL THE RENNSTAND WORK ON TRUCKS, SUVS, AND OTHER HIGH CLEARANCE/LIFTED VEHICLES?
The maximum height of the current or “classic” RennStand is 16.5”, so the vertical distance between the ground and the jacking point of your vehicle before it is lifted, plus the distance that the suspension sags when the vehicle is lifted, must total under 16.5” for the tire nearest the jacking point to be suspended off the ground when supported by the RennStand at it’s highest setting. When asked this question, we always recommend to our customers that they lift their vehicle with only the jack in order to take the vertical measurement from the ground to the jacking point when the vehicle is lifted high enough that the tire closest to the jacking point lifts off the ground to ensure that vertical distance from the ground to the jacking point is below 16.5”. For vehicles outside of this range, we plan to release a truck/suv version of the RennStand in the near future.
DOES THE RENNSTAND NEED TO BE PARALLEL TO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE OR CAN YOU ANGLE IT?
We strongly advise our customers to keep the RennStand's crossbar within the range of parallel up to 10 degrees relative to the side of the vehicle during the lifting process. Going beyond the 10 degrees increases the lateral forces on the floorjack to a point which can cause its wheels to slow or stop rolling entirely. This can lead to the vehicle slipping off or toppling the RennStand crossbar. Safe operation of the RennStand requires that the floorjack is able to roll freely fore and aft during the lifting and lowering processes in order to keep the RennStand's crossbar upright and its pad in contact with the vehicle's jacking point.
I DO NOT SEE A PAD THAT STATES IT MATCHES MY VEHICLE. CAN YOU BUILD CUSTOM PADS?
At this time we are not building custom pads, but please reach out to us via email with the make and model of your car, and we will do our best to determine whether one of our current pads will match your requirements.
DO YOU OFFER AN ADAPTER PAD FOR THE PORSCHE MACAN, CORVETTE, OR MERCEDES?
Currently we do not offer pads for these vehicles but we are diligently working on solutions for all three. If you would like to be notified when these pads will become available, please email us at sales@rennstand.com and we will add you to our update list.
